The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon is the largest museum outside of Paris. Situated near the Place des Terreaux in a former Benedictine convent of the 17th and 18th centuries, its collections range from ancient antiquity to Modern Art.
Notre-Dame de Fourvière is a place where faith can be reborn. It is alive. It is uplifting and awe-inspiring. Gilt, marble, stained glass and coloured mosaics cover virtually every surface. Vivid colours and complex patterns bombard the senses.
Brasserie Georges is an iconic eatery in Lyon, the food capital of France. Established in 1836 by an Alsatian brewer, Brasserie George has seen off an Empire, three wars and four republics. It is the oldest brasserie in the city and one of the largest in Europe.
Rarely do I write about the accommodation we enjoyed/endured during our trips unless it is exceptional. However, on our most recent visit, we found some truly excellent accommodation, the Hotel Liliana on the Italian Riviera.
